Shawn Regan, a budding singer/songwriter from Atlanta, took a big step in April ’06 by releasing his first fully-produced album
Southern Sky. A project that consumed the whole year prior to its release,
Southern Sky truly is an achievement of which Regan should be proud. Regan built his musical career step by step on his own, gradually making a name for himself in the local Atlanta scene. As a self-taught guitarist and vocalist, Regan brings his own unique blend of acoustic-driven rock to the new CD.
Southern Sky is an eclectic mix of musical genres, not limited to a specific sound. Incorporating a folkier side with fiddles and mandolins, tunes such as title track “Southern Sky” and “Across The River” bring forth sounds from a backyard porch hang-out. Other tracks such as “Holding On” feature Regan’s unprecedented ability to make an acoustic guitar rock, incorporating his quick percussive style with driving force. “Kaylee” features Regan’s vocal talents and his ability to create a “sticks-in-your-head” melody. The CD features Matthew Bivins of the nationally renowned band
Jump Little Children on harmonica, as well prominent local artists
Michael Levine and
Ryan McDougall. With this release, the doors are wide open for Shawn Regan’s musical opportunities. One listen will affirm this.
